iPhone 3G sluggish sale disappoints (India)

Posted on: September 18, 2008

After so much publicity and hype iPhone 3G has not been a hit as was anticipated. Since the launch of iPhone 3G in India sales have not crossed the 5,000 mark yet. According to experts price is the biggest factor for its sluggish sales. According to a research analyst, People are really looking forward to the iPhone but the price is the factor. It the price is lowered a little bit, I think there could be a jump in volume, which you may not see in the other devices but the response in iphone will be quick. You lower the price, you see the rise in volume.

Considering the pricing of iPhone in India is still a little cheaper than in the US. But it is still too expensive where market offers a wide choice. The iPhone is not seen as value for money where there are huge expectations from Samsung’s Omnia, scheduled to launch in India next month. For enterprise customers, the Blackberry probably reigns supreme with 200,000 users in India. Analyst said that the HTC Touch is selling like hot cake and the N95 from Nokia also has a clearer positioning and better features at a similar price point.
